Từ đồng chữ

Từ đồng chữ là từ viết giống nhau nhưng khác nhau về phát âm và về nghĩa.

Dưới đây là một số ví dụ về từ đồng chữ:

1. Bow:

- The actors came back on stage and took a bow. /baʊ/  US  /baʊ/
=> Bow ở đây nghĩa là cúi chào.
- He learned to hunt with a bow and arrow /'ær.əʊ/.  /bəʊ/  US  /boʊ/
=> Bow ở đây là cái cung tên.

2. Close:

- Close your eyes and count to ten. /kləʊz/  US  /kloʊz/
=> Close ở đây nghĩa là đóng.
- Please keep close to the path, it's easy to get lost. /kləʊs/  US  /kloʊs/
=> Close này có nghĩa là gần.




3. Content:

- Soft drinks have a high sugar content. /ˈkɒn.tent/  US /ˈkɑːn.tent/
=> Content ở đây là sự chứa đựng.
- I was content just to stay at home and read. /kənˈtent/  US  /kənˈtent/
=> Content ở đây nghĩa là hài lòng, thích.

4. Contract:

- Your muscles will contract if you get cold. /kənˈtrækt/ US  /kənˈtrækt/
=> Contract: teo lại, co lại
- The new export contract is worth $43 million. /ˈkɒn.trækt/ US  /ˈkɑːn.trækt/
=> Contract: hợp đồng

5. Desert:

- He was planning to desert his family and go abroad.  /dɪˈzɜːt/  US /dɪˈzɝːt/
=> Desert: bỏ lại, bỏ đi
- It hasn't rained in this part of desert for years. /ˈdez.ət/  US  /ˈdez.ɚt/

6. Lead:

8. Object:

=> Object: vật thể

13. Used:

=> Used: đã từng

14. Wind:

- Wind speeds reached 115mph last night. /wɪnd/  US  /wɪnd/
=> Wind: gió

=> Wind: xoay tròn

15. Wound:

- He wound the rope around his arm. /waʊnd/  US  /waʊnd/
=> Wound: quá khứ của wind

=> Wound: vết thương
